Intermediaries
In the digital piracy ecosystem, intermediaries are legitimate online services whose infrastructure, products, or features are leveraged by piracy operators to facilitate, scale, and monetize infringement, either through misuse of the service or through its intended functionality. ACE’s intermediary program combats digital piracy through proactive outreach and intelligence-driven strategies that enable key intermediary participants across the digital ecosystem to detect, deter, and disrupt piracy operations while generating actionable intelligence to identify and pursue the operators behind them.
Our Intermediary partners include advertising platforms, ISPs, search engines, online marketplaces, social networks, payment processors, app stores, internet infrastructure companies, hosting providers and more.
Site Blocking
Site blocking disrupts the connection between international criminal piracy enterprises and their intended audiences. It is a powerful tool to defend creative content.
A common strategy, site blocking is currently and regularly employed by almost 60 countries, including leading democracies and many of America’s closest allies such as Canada, Mexico, Australia, the UK, Spain, Italy, and more.
The MPA supports site blocking legislation that includes due process protections, requiring detailed evidence establishing a target’s illegal copyright infringement.
