Los Angeles – The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), the world’s leading coalition dedicated to protecting the dynamic legal market for creative content, has effectively shut down the popular German app, FreeFlix HQ and the IPTV subscription service Akfasat in Algeria.
FreeFlix HQ provided access to 11,000 live channels as well as thousands of movies and TV shows, and according to the developer, had over 7 million users globally. Akfasat offered access to over 3,500 live channels and over 26,000 movies and TV shows.
“By using our very targeted and data-driven approach to reduce piracy around the world, the ACE team continues to successfully shut down services that are harming consumers and content creators alike,” said Karyn Temple, Senior Executive Vice President and Global General Counsel for the MPA.
The action taken against Akfasat is particularly significant as it was the first action of its kind in North Africa.
