China – The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), the world’s leading coalition dedicated to protecting the dynamic legal market for creative content, today announced the latest news regarding the popular Chinese app, Daqian Vision.
After ACE initially referred this app to the China’s National Copyright Administration (NCAC) in 2019, a raid was executed at the operators’ premises in January 2020. Most recently, the case was transferred to the local procuratorate.
The MSA has now confirmed that the Shenzhen Nanshan District Court recently heard the matter and imposed criminal sentences in relation to copyright infringement on the operator company and four of its executives. Additionally, the company, Shenzhen Daqian Vision Cultural Media Co., Ltd., will be fined.
“We are pleased with this result in China and applaud the efforts of the NCAC and MSA which continues to fight for and uphold the importance of copyright,” said Jan van Voorn, Executive Vice President and Chief of Global Content Protection for the MPA.
