Germany – ACE has effectively shut down the infringing German streaming website stream.to.
Stream.to was a German language unauthorized streaming website that offered over 30,000 movies and 4,700 TV shows, many of which belonged to ACE members. Over 6.7M visitors accessed the site in the last 12 months, the majority of the traffic originating from Germany and Austria. The website’s logo included a tagline which read ‘Watch Everything for Free’. ACE sent a cease & desist communication, with the website subsequently going offline in November 2020.
“Unauthorized streaming sites such as stream.to affect legitimate local offerings at a time when more viewers are looking for local content online. Illegal online piracy affects ACE members, as well as the many people who have worked hard to bring the incredible content to audiences around the world,” said Karyn Temple, Senior Executive Vice President and Global General Counsel for the MPA.
ACE continues to implement anti-piracy measures in Germany and take action against illegal operations across the world.
